2018 Breitling Brand Summit New Product Release Super Ocean Culture Second Generation Chronograph 44 Outerknown Special Edition

Breitling has launched the Superocean Héritage II Chronograph 44 Outerknown special edition, paying tribute to the brand’s cooperation with Outerknown. Outerknown is a clothing company that emphasizes sustainability and is committed to creating a better environment for the entire planet. This watch also sets a precedent for Breitling: the strap is made of ®ECONYL yarn material-an innovative material made from nylon waste recycled from the oceans around the world, such as fishing nets. Outerknown was co-founded by Kelly Slater, a surf icon. Like Breitling, this company also works with the Marine Conservation Association to raise public awareness of marine litter issues and inspire people to participate in clean ocean action.

Breitling Super Ocean Culture II Chronograph 44OUTERKNOWN Special Edition

The Breitling Super Marine Culture Chronograph II 44 Outerknown Special Edition is very visually striking. Its black case, eye-catching blue dial and the same blue ECONYL® NATO strap show a bold design style. The dazzling blue is involuntarily associated with the blue planets of the ocean and the earth—the realm of sustainable clothing brand Outerknown and its co-founder, legendary surfer Kelly Slater, trying to protect it. Breitling CEO Georges Kern considers the partnership to be timely: ‘We are honored to further strengthen our partnership with Kelly Slater, who is both a member of our Breitling Surfer Action Team and Co-founder of Outerknown. In addition, the launch of the ECONYL® yarn strap is another step forward in our commitment to sustainable development. In the future, we look forward to more sophisticated models featuring this strap. ‘
Outerknown CEO Mark Walker is also excited to work with a like-minded Swiss watch brand. ‘Breitling and Outerknown are a perfect match,’ he said. ‘Breitling, like us, works closely with the Marine Conservation Association. There is no doubt that the two companies share common values.’
Kelly Slater, co-founder of Outerknown and a member of Breitling Surfers Action Team, is committed to combating ocean and beach pollution. He added: ‘Although it may sound strange, the beach is my office, so I fight pollution every day. I will do my best to keep the beaches and oceans around the world clean. Breitling has launched a special edition of 44Outerknown, the second generation of the Super Marine Culture Chronograph, which aims to raise public awareness of related issues and appeals to everyone to make a difference in this regard. I am very moved. ‘

A timepiece designed to protect the ocean
Super Marine Culture Chronograph II 44 Outerknown Special Edition features a striking black diamond-like diamond (DLC) -coated steel case and a case back engraved with Outerknown’s unique logo.   Super Marine Culture II Chronograph 44 Outerknown Special Edition is powered by Breitling Type 13 mechanical movement. The distinctive blue dial is decorated with a matte “SuperOcean” inscription and white logo, and features a small dial and a central seconds hand. Small dial with white hour markers and black nickel-plated hands. The famous “B” in the Breitling brand logo also has a black nickel finish.
Designed for sustainability, this dive watch is water-resistant to 20 bar (200 meters / 660 feet).
  Breitling pioneers: ECONYL® yarn strap
Super Marine Culture II Chronograph Outerknown 44 Special Edition is Breitling’s first watch with a recycled material strap. Each timepiece is fitted with a NATO strap, made of ECONYL® yarn (made from recycled marine waste worldwide, such as nylon made from fishing nets). The collaboration with Outerknown also inspired the design of the strap. The strap material is the fabric produced by the clothing company. The taffeta dark blue strap reflects the connection of this extraordinary watch to the ocean.
The packaging of the Super Marine Culture II Chronograph Outerknown 44 Special Edition is also fully recycled.

Breitling Super Ocean Culture II Chronograph 44OUTERKNOWN Special Edition

  A heritage of excellence
The Superocean series, first launched in 1957, was a watch for professional divers, but soon became popular among amateur divers and deep dive enthusiasts. Like all Breitling watches, many wearers marvel at the bold style, outstanding performance and precision features of this collection.
2017 marks the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Super Ocean Watch. To this end, Breitling has redesigned the Super Ocean Culture series, ingeniously integrating the appearance of classic diving watches with advanced technology, while carefully retaining the distinguishing characteristics of this watch.
The Super Marine Culture II Chronograph Outerknown 44 Special Edition is not only part of the Breitling watchmaking legend, it also witnesses a profound partnership. The innovative ECONYL® yarn strap is a salute to the era of sustainability.
