On September 25th, local time, during the 12th Zurich Film Festival, IWC held a ‘The Movie’ theme dinner at the AURA restaurant. The famous American actress Uma Thurman (who has appeared in ‘Vulgar’ Fiction ‘) awarded the’ Outstanding Filmmaker Award ‘and a prize of 100,000 Swiss francs for the second IWC Zurich Film Festival. Numerous VIPs from the film, media, business and sports sectors attended the party, including Olympic gold medalist Fabien Cancellara.

The jury selected two winners from five nominated films and documentaries: Director ‘Fortuna’ received 75,000 Swiss francs; ‘Das Blue Note Projekt’ director Sophie Huber received 25,000 Swiss francs. Both winners were presented with a Portuguese stainless steel automatic watch with a black dial and the oscillating weight engraved with the words ‘2nd Filmmaker Award Zurich 2016’.

In 2015, Zurich Film Festival co-directors Naga Hedric and Carl Sperry, IWC CEO Joachis, Hollywood director Mark Foster, and Ringier CEO Mark Wall Germany co-founded the Swiss Film Promotion Association (Verein zur Filmförderung in der Schweiz). The ‘Outstanding Filmmaker Award’ of 100,000 Swiss francs was set up by the association. The Swiss Film Promotion Association hopes to use this award to support Swiss film projects that lack financial support or post-production funding.
